About Me

My name is Darby. You might be wondering why I look so happy. I’m happy because I’m sitting on a beach by the Ganges River and no longer have dysentery.

I love to travel, despite certain discomforts and limits of my bank account. I combine travel with the money saving capacities of occasionally forfeiting certain conveniences such as airplanes and hotels.

I left the US for the first time when I was 14, and never wanted to come back. I’ve spent a lot of time in Spain, Central America, and India, but there are a billion places still on my list. I consider travel a part of my education, so every 1.5 years, I take time off of school to do what I love.

I am beyond thrilled that the time has come for another escapade!

I’m not perfect, but I try to travel in a way that sustains both my wallet and the environment. As I embark on a bicycle tour across South America, I’ll show you how my green adventure saves me money while allowing my indulgence in the landscapes and cultures of everywhere.

From my home in Los Angeles, to all the places I’ll go and have gone, moving within my means results in antics, misadventures, and maybe some revelations but probably not.
